[Household garbage disposal]


When you put out your garbage for collection, be sure to follow the guidelines for sorting, use the specified types of garbage bags and put out your garbage no later than 8:30 a.m. on the specified collection days (or the night before or by 5:30 a.m. if you live in an area where combustible garbage is collected early in the morning).

How to dispose of bulk trash
Bulky things which are more than 90 cm in length/diameter cannot be put out for collection.

If you wish to dispose of bulk trash, either 1. contact your local Cleaning Office and request curbside pick-up or 2. take your waste directly to a waste disposal facility. Spring mattresses, sofas with springs, clothesline poles, batteries and tires can either be picked up at curbside or brought directly to a waste disposal facility to be disposed of for a fee.

How to disposal of refrigerators and freezers, air conditioning units, CRT-based, LCD and plasma TVs, washing machines and tumble dryers.
Disposal of personal computers
Personal computers are not picked up by the City. Contact the manufacturer of your personal computer.
Items that are not accepted for disposal
The City of Saitama does not accept the following items for disposal.
Contact retailers or businesses that provide waste disposal services for these items.
  • Explosive or flammable waste

(Example) Fire extinguishers, gas tanks, mineral oils such as kerosene and gasoline

  • Toxic waste
(Example) Flammable oils, agricultural chemicals, poisons and medicines
  • Waste that cannot be easily crushed
(Example) Motorbike engines, pianos, stone mills, steel, fire-resistant safes, drums, bathtubs, wire cables, solar panels, hydraulic jacks, automobile parts, stainless steel products such as kitchen sinks
  • Commercial waste
(Waste generated by businesses including offices, retailers, commercial establishments and factories)
  • Demolition waste

(Example) Dirt, concrete, bricks, construction debris

  • Any waste that is larger than the bulk trash accepted by the City for curbside pick-up.

(Items that are more than 2 meters in length or diameter)
