Almost 90 percent of the deaths caused by the Kobe earthquake were as a result of people being crushed or suffocated by collapsing buldings and falling furniture. In addition, 50 percent of the injuries were caused by falling and collapsing furniture and 30 percent by falling glass.
In the event of an earthquake, the first step is to ensure your physical safety. You should therefore make disaster preparations at home.

・Check your home!
Please check your home using the following guidelines as reference:

Secure your furniture and don't place heavy objects on top of furniture items. |

Hang fireproof curtains. |

Apply shatterproof film over windows. |

Place furniture in rooms with wooden floors, not on the tatami, and fasten tall items such as wardrobes and bookshelves with L-shaped clamps or prop sticks. |

Don’t place heavy or potentially dangerous items on top of furniture. |
| 3. |
Lighting fixtures suspended by only one cord should be secured from several positions using chains or hooks. |

Use fireproof curtains. |

Use an earthquake auto shutdown capability stove. Don’t place flammable items near the stove. |

Use hooks to secure the television in a low position. To prevent electric shock, do not place items containing water such as fish tanks on top of the television. |
・Prepare emergency goods!
It is important to have an emergency bag of supplies in a convenient location, ready for speedy evacuation.
In addition, you should check the shelf life date of the contents regularly.
