Iwatsuki Ward is located to the east of Saitama City, adjacent to Kasukabe City and Koshigaya City on the east,
and Kawaguchi City, Hasuda City and Shiraoka City to the north.
The ward lies on a narrow strip of land, extending about 4.9 kilometers east to west and about 14.8 kilometers
north to south. It is blessed with a rich natural environment from verdant mountain plateaus to the banks of
the Motoarakawa River.
Over the years Doll-making has become Iwatsuki’s local industry with a rich history dating back to the
Edo Period. The ward boasts one of the nation’s highest production of doll-making.
