Child Support Allowance

Saitama City pays an allowance to fathers or mothers of single parent households, households where guardians are taking care of children in place their parents, and households where with mother or father has a certain degree of disability.

Eligibility:

Fathers, mothers or guardians of single parent households, etc., who are raising a child of 18 years or younger (paid until March 31 of fiscal year the child turns 18) or a child up to 20 years old with a certain degree of disability.

Single Parent Households Child Education Benefit

The city pays a portion of the money needed to prepare for children’s admission to school.

Eligibility:

Single mothers, fathers or guardians with children entering junior high school, who are exempt from paying resident tax but are not receiving public assistance.

Single Parent Households Medical Benefit

Saitama City will pay a portion of your medical fees to the relevant facilities on your behalf if you are receiving outpatient treatment at the hospital for illness or injury or you have been admitted.

Eligibility:

Children of single parent household, households with guardians taking care of children instead of parents or households where either mother or father has a certain level of disability and their fathers, mothers, or guardians.

Loan System for Single Mothers/Fathers, Widows or Divorcees

Loans are given to help persons gain financial independence and enhance the welfare of children.

Eligibility:

 ·   Mothers or fathers of single parent households.
 ·   Widows and Divorcees (women who have lost their husband through divorce or other means, who were single mothers at some point.
 ·   Children 20 years or younger who have no mother or father.
 ·   Women 40 years of age or older who lost their husband through divorce or other means, who are not presently single mothers and were not single mothers in the past.

Educational Training Benefit for Self-sufficiency of Single Parent Household

Part of the fees will be reimbursed for single mothers or fathers who complete the appointed educational training course to make themselves financially independent once their studies have been completed.

Eligibility:

Single parents who are receiving child support allowance or whose income would qualify them for the allowance.

Single Parent Households Advanced Vocational Training Benefit

A subsidy will be provided to single parents who are studying to gain the qualifications necessary to work and support themselves.

Eligibility:

Single parents who are receiving child support allowance, or whose income falls in the same category, and are studying at a training institution (such as a school) for 1 year or longer to gain qualifications as nurses, practical nurses, certified care workers, childcare workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dental hygienists, etc.

Benefit for Single Parent Households High School Graduate Level Certification Examination

A subsidy will be provided to single parents who are taking preparatory classes for the high school graduate level certification examination necessary to support themselves financially.

Eligibility:

Single parents or children who are receiving child support allowance, or those whose income falls in the same category, and have not graduated from high school equivalent.
