Residence Card

Residency Management System

A residence card will be issued to mid/long-term residents, a period of stay of 3 months or longer, of foreign nationals. You must contact your local Regional Immigration Services Bureau for any changes or renewal of your residence card.

Issuance of Residence card

​Residence cards are issued to mid/long-term residents of foreign nationals with a period of stay of 3 months or longer when granted permission pertaining to residence such as landing permission, permission for change of resident status, and permission for extension of the period of stay.
Foreign residents of 16 years of age or above must carry their residence cards at all time.
Foreign residents of 15 years of age or younger are not obligated to carry their residence cards at all time.

Application

​An application for the re-issuance of a residence card is required if your card is lost, or for any changes to the name, date of birth, gender, and/or nationality/region. Please apply for a new residence card within 14 days at your local Regional Immigration Services Bureau.
For change of address, please contact your municipal office.
