Description:

This row house gate, or nagayamon, was built at the end of the Edo period (1603-1867). It features a “hipped” yosemune-zukuri roofing style made with a curved type of tile known as sangawara. The nagayamon is 21.6 meters long, 4.75 meters wide, 6.18 meters tall, and has an area of about 100.51 square meters. A curved fence made in a traditional board-and-batten style called sasarakobei connects to both sides of the nagayamon.
