Description:

This yosegi-zukuri (joined-block construction) statue dates to the beginning of the Muromachi period. It stands 26.8 cm tall, with a total display height of 28.8 cm. The figure holds the shakujo ringed staff of Buddhist monks in its right hand and a wish-fulfilling jewel called a nyoi hoju in its left. The eyes are made of inlaid crystal. This Jizo has lost the byakugo that previously adorned its forehead, and the edges of its robe have been scraped off. Repairs have been made to both hands.
